It is being said that almost towards the end of 2003, this facility will be in operation and available to the relevant customers as well as the development partners.
The module makes satellite tracking possible in extremely very low signal environment, producing powerful positioning solutions located within buildings, under very dense foliage and urban canyons.
The LSS GPS module stands right at the central position of QinetiQ’s enhancement of the positioning integration foundation.
Ian Pirie, who is the GPS Telematics director at QinetiQ, claimed that QinetiQ is prominently placed right ahead of the relevant market with its easily more than 100 GPS experts and the dedicated research along with development experience of 20 years.
This technology is designed with the aim of being used in the newer customer applications for example improved and enhanced customer services by utilizing the dispatch system practiced. This dispatch system is within the industry called taxi industry which employs GPS mode of information to automatically and quickly assign the task to the nearest cab or vehicle as soon as a customer makes a request for such a facility.
This technology can also be utilized to facilitate ambulances and such other service fleets in order to take a route that is the shortest between the two given locations. In this way, on one hand the services are bound to improve and on the other hand the fuel costs will naturally come down.
